Does PingAim Help in Paladins: Champions of the Realm?

Compatible — EAC does not block PingAim
More about Easy Anti-Cheathow it works · what it blocks · known conflicts
Kernel-levelBlocks DLL injectionNetwork optimizers allowed

Paladins uses EasyAntiCheat (EAC), owned by Epic Games. EAC runs a kernel-level driver on Windows that loads with the game. It monitors for process injection, memory tampering, and known cheat signatures. EAC replaced an earlier custom anti-cheat system; the switch was announced in official Steam community posts.

VPN and network optimizers

Hi-Rez does not explicitly prohibit VPN or network optimizer use in Paladins. Multiple third-party sources confirm VPNs work without bans. High-quality VPNs with clean IPs are reported to work without triggering EAC or account flags. PingAim operates below the network stack via a WFP kernel driver and does not inject into the game process.

Why ping matters in Paladins: Champions of the Realm

Latency sensitivity High

Ping noticeably shapes the experience.

Paladins is a hero shooter where champion abilities have precise timing windows — flanking champions like Zhin and Maeve rely on burst combos that must land within fractions of a second. The low server tick rate (~20-30 Hz) means each server update covers 33-50ms of game time, so a spike from 40ms to 100ms can cause missed shots and ability whiffs to register as hits on the client side. Healers using targeted beams on moving targets are especially susceptible to desync at higher latency. While less twitch-dependent than CS2 or Valorant, consistent sub-80ms ping is required to play most champions competitively.

About Paladins: Champions of the Realmbackground, studio, esports scene

Paladins: Champions of the Realm is a free-to-play hero shooter developed by Evil Mojo Games and published by Hi-Rez Studios, released in full on May 8, 2018 after a two-year open beta period. Players choose from a roster of Champions — each with a unique ability kit and role — and compete in objective-based 5v5 matches across modes such as Siege, Onslaught, and Team Deathmatch. The game features a card-deck system that allows extensive per-match customization of champion abilities, giving it a strategic layer beyond typical hero shooters. Paladins supports cross-play between PC (Epic Games Store), PlayStation, and Xbox. Note: Steam players are matched only with other Steam players and do not have cross-play access. Nintendo Switch support was discontinued in June 2023.

Built on Unreal Engine 3, Paladins uses a server-authoritative netcode model with dedicated servers in multiple regions. Network traffic is transmitted over UDP. The game includes EasyAntiCheat (EAC) for cheat prevention. Players can select their preferred server region from the main menu, with region options including North America, Europe, Brazil, and Australia. Southeast Asia players were directed to the Australia region following the shutdown of the dedicated SEA infrastructure.

Paladins occupies a distinct niche as a highly configurable, free-to-play alternative to Overwatch. Its card system encourages a build-crafting meta that draws MOBA-influenced players into the hero shooter genre. The game had an esports circuit under the Paladins Premier League (2017-2018), though organized competitive play has been minimal in recent years. Hi-Rez maintains an ongoing update cadence with new champions and seasonal patches, and the game retains a dedicated global playerbase years after its full release.

PingAim detects Paladins: Champions of the Realm automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies Paladins: Champions of the Realm by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.

When does PingAim help — and when doesn't it?

PingAim helps when...

  • You have a phone with 5G or LTE — USB tether for a dedicated gaming connection separate from your home WiFi
  • You have both Ethernet and WiFi available — route Paladins through the faster one automatically
  • You stream or voice-chat while playing — keep Paladins on 5G, OBS and Discord on your main connection
  • Your home WiFi is congested with family or roommates during peak hours
  • Your ISP routes traffic suboptimally to Hi-Rez's US East servers
  • Windows is picking the wrong network interface for Paladins and you want explicit control

Won't help when...

  • You only have one network connection with no way to add a second
  • Your single connection is already fast and stable with consistent sub-50ms ping
  • The lag is caused by Hi-Rez server load (server-side issue, not your connection)
  • FPS drops or client-side stutters (not network related)
