Last Epoch

Got a second connection? PingAim routes Last Epoch through your fastest interface, cutting the jitter that turns tight skill timing into rubberbanding and makes loot snap back before you can grab it.

Does PingAim Help in Last Epoch?

Compatible — EAC does not block PingAim

Last Epoch uses EasyAntiCheat (EAC), owned by Epic Games, in Online mode only. EAC runs a kernel-level driver on Windows that monitors processes and memory. Offline characters bypass EAC entirely — there is no anti-cheat enforcement in Offline mode, which is by design (no competitive systems). For Online mode, EAC is required and runs from game launch. The game's server-authoritative architecture also provides a second layer of anti-cheat: character stats and inventory are stored and validated server-side.

VPN and network optimizers

Network optimization tools (ExitLag, WTFast, GearUP Booster) are actively used by the Last Epoch community and officially support the game. No bans have been reported for using routing optimization tools. EHG has not published any policy against network optimization tools.

Why ping matters in Last Epoch

Latency sensitivity Medium

Ping matters but is not the dominant factor.

Last Epoch is a server-authoritative action RPG where skill timing, item pickup, and character position are resolved on the server. Unlike a fighting game or competitive shooter, an action RPG tolerates slightly more latency before it becomes unplayable — but desync in Last Epoch has a specific, frustrating character: skill animations play locally but effects land late, loot appears then snaps back, and rubber-banding in co-op sessions breaks the flow of combat. The co-op experience is significantly more latency-sensitive than solo online play because party actions (damage, buffs, shared zone triggers) must be synchronized across multiple clients. At high ping, item drops in co-op can desync — you see an item, click it, and either nothing happens or it disappears as the server reconciles. For endgame Monolith farming where speed and precise skill timing matter, a second connection via PingAim to a lower-latency, lower-jitter path noticeably reduces the desync frequency.

About Last Epochbackground, studio, esports scene

Last Epoch is an action RPG developed and published by Eleventh Hour Games, released in full version 1.0 on February 21, 2024, after five years in Early Access. Players build a character from one of five mastery classes, travel through a time-fractured world, and pursue increasingly powerful loot through endgame systems including the Monolith of Fate and Arena. The game supports up to 4-player cooperative online play and features both Online and Offline character modes — Online characters are stored server-side and can co-op, trade, and access leaderboards, while Offline characters run locally and cannot be transferred to Online.

Last Epoch uses a server-authoritative network model. The game launched with significant server stability issues at 1.0 due to the concurrent player surge — queue times, desync, and rubber-banding were widely reported. Eleventh Hour Games deployed rapid patches to scale server capacity throughout February and March 2024. Ongoing issues with desync and skill animation delays have persisted at a lower rate into seasonal updates. Season 2 (Tombs of the Erased, April 17 2025) introduced major endgame overhauls and a new Woven faction but also revived community lag reports at season launch.

The game uses EasyAntiCheat (EAC) to protect Online mode. Offline characters run without any anti-cheat enforcement. Available server regions include US East, US Central, US West, EU West, EU East, Asia Southeast, Asia Northeast, Australia Southeast, Australia West, and South Africa. Region selection occurs at the login screen and can also be changed in Settings > Gameplay. The game had 264,708 peak concurrent players at 1.0 launch, outpacing Path of Exile's all-time Steam peak, making it the largest action RPG launch in Steam history at the time.

PingAim detects Last Epoch automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies Last Epoch by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.

When does PingAim help — and when doesn't it?

PingAim helps when...

  • Phone 5G tethering available — route Last Epoch through mobile and free home connection for everything else
  • Playing co-op with 3 other players — server-authoritative co-op amplifies desync; lower jitter directly reduces skill timing failures
  • Evening peak-hour congestion causes ping spikes during dense Monolith maps
  • Home network congested by household streaming or downloads that spike jitter
  • Auto-selected region doesn't match your geography — PingAim's interface selection can improve routing to the correct regional datacenter
  • Season launch congestion (1.0 launch and Season 2 both had server overload) — more stable connection path reduces session drops
  • ISP has poor peering with EHG's datacenter for your region

Won't help when...

  • Only one active network connection with no phone to tether — no second path available
  • Already below 40ms on your region with stable jitter — game plays cleanly under that threshold
  • Server-side overload from season launch or patch day — server capacity issues cannot be fixed client-side
  • Playing Offline characters — they have no server connection to optimize
  • FPS drops and stuttering — client GPU/CPU performance issues, not network
