Does PingAim Help in New World: Aeternum?

Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) by Epic Games is mandatory in New World. It must be running to launch the game. EAC monitors for memory tampering, DLL injection, unsigned drivers, and process manipulation. It installs EasyAntiCheat.sys as a kernel driver on Windows. The game also has additional Amazon-side backend integrity checks for game economy exploits (duplication glitches have historically been a major issue).

VPN and network optimizers

VPNs and network optimizers are permitted in New World. Amazon Games has never issued bans for using network optimization software. ExitLag and GearUp Booster have official New World support pages. EAC does not flag or ban for routing changes at the network level.

Known software conflicts

  • Corsair iCUE (macro features) has triggered EAC 'Suspicious Software' warnings — cosmetic conflict, not network-related
  • Windows Insider builds can cause EAC launch failures — not related to network optimization
  • Unsigned or poorly-signed kernel drivers may be flagged — ensure WFP driver is properly signed

Why ping matters in New World: Aeternum

Latency sensitivity High

Ping noticeably shapes the experience.

New World uses action combat requiring manual dodging, blocking, and skill-shot abilities — there is no tab-target auto-aim. In the game's signature 50v50 Wars (territory siege PvP), players must physically dodge AoE attacks, time light/heavy attack combos to break opponent stamina, and execute ability chains in real time. Action-game tolerance research (Raaen 2014, https://www.diva-portal.org/smash/get/diva2:837521/FULLTEXT01.pdf) finds noticeable degradation around 100ms and major degradation past 200ms. At 100ms+, dodge animations register late, heavy attacks miss windows, and movement desync becomes visible. Wars have historically been exploited using lag-switch tactics specifically because server-side validation makes high-latency players nearly unhittable while still dealing damage. Combat outside Wars (open-world PvP, dungeons, invasions) is similarly timing-dependent. This makes New World more latency-sensitive than tab-target MMORPGs like WoW or FFXIV, though less demanding than a battle royale or FPS.

About New World: Aeternumbackground, studio, esports scene

New World: Aeternum is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed and published by Amazon Games. Set in the supernatural land of Aeternum — a lost island modeled loosely after the mythologized Americas of the 17th century — players fight for survival against supernatural forces, competing factions, and each other. The game features action-oriented third-person combat with no target-locking, requiring players to land skill shots and time dodges manually. Core systems include territory control (Wars, a 50v50 PvP siege mode), large-scale open-world invasions (Mutations), crafting, and open-world PvP.

Originally launched on PC in September 2021 to record-breaking concurrent player numbers (~913,000 peak on Steam), the game suffered severe population decline due to technical issues, server instability, and content shortages. Amazon relaunched the game as 'New World: Aeternum' on October 15, 2024, bringing console cross-play (PS5, Xbox Series X/S), a streamlined new player experience, and an overhaul of combat and progression. Despite modest recovery, Amazon announced in January 2026 that the game would be delisted immediately and permanently shut down on January 31, 2027. The game runs entirely on Amazon's own AWS infrastructure — EC2 C5 compute instances, DynamoDB for game state persistence, Kinesis for telemetry — making it a showcase of AWS capabilities in live game hosting.

PingAim detects New World: Aeternum automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies New World: Aeternum by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.

When does PingAim help — and when doesn't it?

PingAim helps when...

  • Phone 5G tethering available — route War traffic through mobile data when home internet is congested during peak hours
  • Both WiFi and Ethernet active — ensures NewWorld.exe uses the faster wired connection
  • Streaming Wars on one connection, playing on another — keeps broadcast from competing with dodge inputs
  • Evening peak-hour congestion causing ping spikes during Wars or invasions
  • Dual-WAN setup — PingAim selects the lower-latency path to AWS datacenters in Virginia, Frankfurt, or Singapore
  • Windows assigned the wrong default interface after a network change
  • Players in Australia, South America, or Southeast Asia forced onto US servers after population merges

Won't help when...

  • Only one network connection available — second interface required to reroute traffic
  • Already under 80ms to AWS with stable connection — MMO threshold met for action combat
  • High ping caused by server-side performance during peak Wars load — server lag, not routing
  • Ping issues from massive geographic distance to surviving server regions after merges — no routing fix can overcome physics
  • Easy Anti-Cheat is a kernel-level anti-cheat — use PingAim's signed WFP driver mode only and do NOT enable DLL-injection mode for NewWorld.exe, since EAC blocks process injection and Amazon Games' backend may flag account-level anomalies
