Marauders Lag Issues & Fixes — 5 Tips That Actually Work

Known lag problems and proven fixes for Marauders. Regional issues, ISP problems, and 5 optimization tips.

FPS Small Impact Games, 2022 ~7 avg concurrent / ~18 monthly peak (March 2026)

Known Lag Problems

These problems are reported by real players. If your region or ISP is listed, a network optimizer is likely to help.

Asia

  • Near-zero player population makes matchmaking essentially impossible. Players report server existing but no opponents found.

South America

  • Very low population, long matchmaking queues outside peak hours.

How to Fix It

Try these first — they're free and solve the problem for most people.

01 Select the correct server region manually

1. From the main menu, go to Play → Region Selection 2. The game shows available regions ranked by your measured ping 3. Choose the region with the lowest ping value — this is your closest AWS datacenter 4. If your auto-selected region keeps giving high ping, try the next one in the list 5. Workaround for persistent high ping: switch to a different region, wait for confirmation, then switch back to your preferred region — this has been reported to reset routing issues

Choosing the wrong region adds 100-200ms immediately. Marauders changed the system in 2023 to show ping per region — use it. The region workaround trick has fixed persistent high-ping issues for multiple players in community reports.

02 Switch to a wired Ethernet connection

1. Connect a Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable from your PC to your router 2. Open Windows Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi → disable Wi-Fi 3. Your PC switches to the wired connection automatically 4. Re-check your ping in-game — jitter should drop noticeably

WiFi introduces 5-30ms of variable latency (jitter) that causes intermittent desync and hit registration failures. In an extraction shooter where each shot counts, replacing WiFi with Ethernet removes a major source of unpredictable packet timing. Free, immediate improvement.

03 Close background bandwidth consumers before raiding

1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc → Task Manager → Performance → Open Resource Monitor 2. Click the Network tab → sort by 'Total (B/sec)' 3. Pause or close: Windows Update (Settings → Update → Pause Updates 7 days), cloud backups (OneDrive, Google Drive), torrents, Discord video streams 4. Launch Marauders after clearing these — do not alt-tab back into them during a raid

Background downloads create burst congestion that spikes your ping during the moments when it matters most — mid-firefight or during extraction. Even a 5-second Windows Update download can cause 200ms+ spikes on a shared home connection.

General network tips (not Marauders-specific)
04 Check your actual in-game ping before anything else

1. Start a match and enter a raid 2. Press Tab to open the in-game scoreboard — ping is shown next to your name in milliseconds 3. Alternatively, look for a ping display in the HUD settings menu 4. If your ping shows above 100ms or jumps between values during the raid, your connection is the problem 5. Note: the 'Ping Issue Detected' warning appears automatically when the game's backend detects latency above its threshold

Confirms whether your problem is network latency (high or spiking ping) versus server-side issues (everyone lagging at once) or local performance (FPS drops with stable ping). Essential first step before trying any fix.

05 Use a DNS server close to you

1. Press Win+R, type cmd, right-click → Run as administrator 2. Run: ipconfig /flushdns 3. Open Control Panel → Network and Internet → Network Connections 4. Right-click your active adapter → Properties → IPv4 → Use the following DNS: 1.1.1.1 (primary), 1.0.0.1 (secondary) 5. Click OK

Marauders' Nakama backend uses HTTPS for matchmaking and session setup — faster DNS speeds up the initial connection to the backend. Minimal impact on in-raid ping (game traffic is IP-based after connection) but can reduce matchmaking wait times.

Still lagging? The problem is likely your ISP's routing to the game servers.

PingAim detects Marauders automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies Marauders by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.
