Marauders
Every raid in Marauders is played with gear on the line. PingAim sends your game traffic through the best available connection — phone 5G, Ethernet, or WiFi — so your shots register and your extraction succeeds.
Does PingAim Help in Marauders?
More about Denuvo Anti-Cheathow it works · what it blocks · known conflicts
Marauders uses both EasyAntiCheat (EAC, from launch) and Denuvo Anti-Cheat (added February 2023 in Red Baron Hotfix 02). The Denuvo addition was in direct response to rising ESP (wallhack) and aimbot cheating in the extraction shooter genre. Small Impact Games stated both systems would run in tandem. Denuvo Anti-Cheat installs a kernel-level driver, distinct from Denuvo's DRM (anti-tamper) product — only the anti-cheat component is used. Community feedback noted performance was unaffected by the addition. Manual bans are still required as Denuvo alone does not auto-ban flagged players.
VPN and network optimizers
No stated policy against VPNs or network routing tools. Players have used ExitLag and similar tools with Marauders without reported bans. The extraction shooter community widely uses routing tools to reduce ping on servers with low regional population.

Why ping matters in Marauders
Latency sensitivity HighPing noticeably shapes the experience.
Marauders is an extraction shooter — every death means losing equipped gear, consumables, and any loot collected during the raid. In PvP engagements, hit registration accuracy directly determines whether you keep your loadout or respawn empty-handed. UE4's server-authoritative model means shots that are fired on your screen may not register on the server if your ping causes position desync — your target was already 100ms away from where you saw them. Players have documented 'ping issue detected' warnings that trigger gameplay degradation, rubberbanding, and invisible crew members, all of which have tangible consequences in a game where dying means losing real in-game value.
About Maraudersbackground, studio, esports scene
Marauders is a first-person tactical extraction shooter developed by Small Impact Games and published by Team17, released into Steam Early Access on October 3, 2022. Set in an alternate-history 1990s dieselpunk space environment, players form crews of up to four, board spacecraft to raid cargo ships and space stations for loot, fight other player crews and AI guards, then escape through an extraction pod. All gear brought in can be lost on death — the defining risk-reward loop of the extraction shooter genre.
The game runs on Unreal Engine 4 with dedicated servers managed via Heroic Labs' Nakama backend. Server matchmaking originally went through Epic Online Services and PlayFab before Small Impact Games settled on Nakama deployed on AWS in 2023. The Nakama backend manages accounts (330,000+ registered), crew groups, leaderboards, real-time chat, and region-aware matchmaking. Game server hosting runs on Amazon GameLift for scalable dedicated instances.
Anti-cheat history is notable: Marauders launched with EasyAntiCheat (EAC), then in February 2023 added Denuvo Anti-Cheat in the Red Baron Hotfix 02 update. Both systems ran in parallel, with Denuvo introduced in response to increases in ESP and aimbot cheating that are endemic to extraction shooters. Denuvo operates at kernel level on Windows.
Player population peaked at 14,203 concurrent players at launch in October 2022 and has declined sharply since. By early 2026 the game averages under 10 concurrent players on Steam, making finding matches outside peak hours increasingly difficult. Server regions include EU, US East, US West, and South America, with Asia servers reported as very low population.

PingAim detects Marauders automatically
No manual config. PingAim identifies Marauders by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.
When does PingAim help — and when doesn't it?
PingAim helps when...
- Phone 5G tethering available — route Marauders through mobile while home connection handles everything else
- Both WiFi and Ethernet connected — PingAim routes through whichever reaches AWS with less jitter
- Evening peak-hour congestion causing ping spikes mid-raid — separate game traffic from household bandwidth
- Playing on EU servers from outside EU or vice versa — better path selection reduces each routing hop to AWS
- Persistent 'Ping Issue Detected' warnings in-game with otherwise good internet speeds
- Experiencing rubberbanding or invisible crew members — symptoms of latency-induced desync in UE4
- Home network shared by streaming, downloads, or video calls competing with game UDP traffic
Won't help when...
- Only one active network connection with no phone to tether — no second path to route through
- Already below 40ms with stable jitter — UE4 at sub-40ms is responsive for extraction shooter combat
- Server-side issues from low global population (failed matchmaking, long queue times) — not a network problem
- FPS drops and shader compilation stutters — client-side performance, not network
- Cheaters or suspected aimbot opponents — an anti-cheat problem, not latency
