Tekken 8 FAQ — Ping, Servers, Network

Does Tekken 8 have rollback netcode? Is Tekken 8 P2P or does it use dedicated servers?

Fighting Bandai Namco Studios, 2024 ~5K concurrent Steam / multi-platform
Does Tekken 8 have rollback netcode?

Yes. Tekken 8 is the first mainline Tekken to ship with rollback netcode. Tekken 7 used delay-based netcode, which added input delay to keep both players in sync. Rollback predicts inputs locally and corrects mispredictions invisibly, making the game feel much more responsive online. You can also tune the rollback behavior in Settings under 'Rollback Setting'.

Is Tekken 8 P2P or does it use dedicated servers?

Tekken 8 uses peer-to-peer (P2P) connections for actual gameplay. Bandai Namco runs matchmaking servers that pair you with opponents, but once a match starts, the connection is direct between your machine and your opponent's. This means your ping to opponents varies by geography and ISP routing — there's no central server buffering the connection.

Why is my Tekken 8 ping higher than in other games?

Because Tekken 8 is P2P, your ping reflects the direct route to your opponent's machine — not to a nearby game server. If you're matched cross-region or with someone on a different ISP, routing can be suboptimal. Your own network conditions (WiFi jitter, congested upload, strict NAT) also directly impact both sides of the match.

Does PingAim work with Tekken 8?

Yes. Tekken 8 has no kernel-level anti-cheat, so PingAim's WFP driver works without interference. PingAim optimizes the route from your machine toward your opponent's network — most useful for cross-region ranked matches or when your ISP's backbone routing adds unnecessary latency. Note: since the game is P2P, PingAim only improves your side of the connection.

What ping is acceptable in Tekken 8?

Below 80ms is ideal for competitive play with Prioritize Response mode. 80-100ms is comfortable with Standard or Prioritize Response. 100-150ms remains playable but causes visible rollback artifacts and combo inconsistency. Above 150ms the match quality degrades significantly — Tekken 8's 60fps frame-tight combos require a stable, low-jitter connection.

Does Tekken 8 support crossplay?

Yes — Tekken 8 supports full crossplay between PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S across all online modes including Ranked, Quick Match, and the Tekken Fight Lounge. You can toggle crossplay in the Platform Restrictions setting when searching for a match.

PingAim detects Tekken 8 automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies Tekken 8 by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.
