Why ping matters in Soulframe

Latency sensitivity Medium

Ping matters but is not the dominant factor.

Soulframe is a co-op action MMO with deliberate, soulslike pacing rather than twitch-reflex combat. Timing windows for parries and dodges exist but are measured in hundreds of milliseconds — far more forgiving than a competitive FPS. In a 3-player dungeon instance, latency affects the responsiveness of combat abilities and the accuracy of enemy position, but the game's design philosophy (tactical, methodical) means that 80-120ms is generally playable without a meaningful disadvantage. Long session duration and dungeon persistence make connection stability more important than raw latency.

About Soulframebackground, studio, esports scene

Soulframe is a free-to-play fantasy action MMORPG in development by Digital Extremes, the Canadian studio behind Warframe. Set in a world of nature, restoration, and ancient mystery, the game blends deliberate soulslike combat — parrying, dodging, and weapon variety — with the co-operative online structure of an MMO. Up to three players ('Envoys') can explore procedurally-generated dungeons, wield skill trees aligned to Courage, Grace, or Spirit, and interact with the world through a panpipe instrument that triggers environmental events. The visual and thematic identity draws from Ghost of Tsushima and Celtic mythology rather than science fiction.

As of early 2026, Soulframe is in a closed pre-alpha phase called 'Preludes.' Digital Extremes releases regular content updates (Preludes 1 through 14 as of March 2026) and grants access via weekly lottery draws and a paid Founders program. The game runs on Digital Extremes' proprietary Evolution engine, the same platform powering Warframe, and uses dedicated servers across at least five regional locations. Full launch is anticipated no earlier than 2027.

PingAim detects Soulframe automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies Soulframe by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.

When does PingAim help — and when doesn't it?

PingAim helps when...

  • You have a phone with 5G/LTE — tether via USB to give Soulframe a dedicated path separate from household traffic
  • You have both WiFi and Ethernet — route the game through the lower-latency one
  • Your home network is congested during peak hours and your dungeon runs keep getting interrupted
  • You stream or have others watching Netflix — separate Soulframe traffic from the bandwidth hog
  • You want to play with friends on a different regional server and need the best routing path available
  • Windows picks the wrong interface and you want explicit control over which connection Soulframe uses

Won't help when...

  • You only have one network connection with no way to add a second
  • Your connection is already fast and stable with no congestion
  • The issue is server-side lag from Digital Extremes infrastructure
  • FPS drops or game crashes — these are GPU/CPU issues, not network
