Does PingAim work with iRacing?
Yes. PingAim auto-detects iRacingSim64DX11.exe and routes its UDP traffic through your optimal network interface using a WFP kernel driver. iRacing uses Easy Anti-Cheat (EOS version), but EAC monitors process injection, not network-level routing. PingAim's WFP driver operates at the Windows network stack level and does not modify the game client.
Why do I get phantom contact (netcode incidents) in iRacing?
iRacing uses prediction-based netcode. Each client predicts where other cars are based on their last known position and velocity. When your ping is high, the prediction error grows — at 200 km/h, 50ms of ping means ~2.8 metres of prediction offset. This causes 'phantom 4x' contact where one driver hits a predicted position that doesn't match the other car's actual location. Lower, more stable ping reduces prediction error and phantom contacts.
What is a good ping for iRacing?
Below 80ms is race-ready for most situations. 80-150ms is manageable but demands extra caution in close wheel-to-wheel racing due to increased position prediction error. Above 150ms, prediction errors become significant enough that other cars may appear multiple car-lengths from their actual position at racing speeds.
Does iRacing use Steam Datagram Relay?
No. iRacing uses its own proprietary dedicated server infrastructure. Clients connect directly to iRacing's race server farms via UDP on ports 15000-52500. There is no relay layer between you and the race server, which means your ISP's routing path has full, unmitigated impact on your latency.
Can I get banned for using a network optimizer in iRacing?
No. Network optimization tools like WTFast and NoPing officially list iRacing as a supported game and are widely used without bans. iRacing's EAC monitors process injection and file integrity, not network-level traffic routing. PingAim uses a WFP driver that operates at the Windows network stack level.
What ports does iRacing use?
iRacing uses UDP exclusively for race traffic on the server port range 15000-52500. Your PC uses an ephemeral (random) local port for each session. HTTPS port 443 is used for authentication, content download, and the member portal.
