Fortnite FAQ — Ping, Servers, Network

Does PingAim work with Fortnite? Why is my ping high in Fortnite even with fast internet?

Does PingAim work with Fortnite?

Yes. PingAim auto-detects FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exe and routes its traffic through the network interface you choose using a WFP kernel driver. It is fully compatible with Easy Anti-Cheat — PingAim operates at the Windows network stack level and does not modify the game client or inject into the game process.

Why is my ping high in Fortnite even with fast internet?

Internet speed (bandwidth) and ping (latency) are different things. High ping in Fortnite is caused by your ISP routing traffic through suboptimal paths to Epic's AWS servers. Even on a 1 Gbps connection, if your ISP sends packets through congested exchange points instead of a direct path, your ping will be high. Switching to a different interface (e.g., a 5G tether on a different carrier) can take a different physical path to the AWS edge and produce different results.

What is a good ping for Fortnite?

0-20ms is what competitive players target. 20-50ms is the standard competitive range where most pros play. 50-80ms is playable but you will lose wall-takes against lower-ping players. Above 100ms creates severe disadvantages in build fights, editing, and shotgun duels. For casual Zero Build, up to 80ms is comfortable.

Can I get banned for using a network optimizer in Fortnite?

There are no documented bans from Epic for using ExitLag, WTFast, or similar packet-routing tools, and Epic's published anti-cheat policy targets cheat software, not network drivers. Easy Anti-Cheat monitors the game process; PingAim uses a WFP driver that operates at the Windows network stack level — outside EAC's game-process scope.

Why do I get ghost shots in Fortnite?

Ghost shots happen when your client shows a hit but the server rejects it. This is caused by the gap between your client's view and the server's state — a gap that grows with higher ping. At 60ms+ ping, you are seeing the enemy where they were 60ms ago. A more stable, lower-latency path to the AWS server narrows this gap.

PingAim detects Fortnite automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies Fortnite by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.
