Does PingAim work with Enshrouded?
Yes. PingAim uses a WFP (Windows Filtering Platform) kernel driver to route Enshrouded's network traffic through your best available connection. Enshrouded has no anti-cheat system, so PingAim works without any compatibility concerns. PingAim attaches to enshrouded.exe and routes its UDP traffic (port 15636) through whichever interface — phone 5G hotspot, Ethernet, or WiFi — provides the lowest latency and jitter to the server.
Why do my friends rubber-band in my Enshrouded co-op session?
In Enshrouded's default P2P mode, your machine acts as the server. When friends rubber-band, it's usually because your connection to them is degraded — either high latency, high jitter (ping variation), or insufficient upload bandwidth. Common causes: WiFi on the host's machine (switch to Ethernet), background uploads competing for bandwidth, or an ISP routing issue. A dedicated server eliminates this entirely by removing your PC from the server role.
What is the maximum player count in Enshrouded co-op?
Enshrouded supports up to 16 players on a dedicated server. In the default P2P mode from the in-game lobby, the limit is 4 players (host + 3 friends). For groups of 5 or more, a dedicated server (from GPORTAL or other providers) is required.
Should I host Enshrouded on P2P or set up a dedicated server?
For groups of 2-4 with stable connections, P2P works well as long as the host has a wired Ethernet connection and low jitter. For groups of 5+, or when the host has poor connectivity, a dedicated server is significantly better — it removes the dependency on the host's hardware and connection, runs 24/7 even when the host is offline, and provides consistent performance for all players.
Does Enshrouded have lag compensation or client-side prediction?
No documented lag compensation or client-side prediction has been confirmed by Keen Games. Community reports and the visible rubber-banding at higher latencies are consistent with a host-authoritative model where the server (or host in P2P) is the sole truth for game state. This means high ping translates directly to visible desync — enemies snap to positions, building placement desyncs between players, and combat hit registration feels delayed proportional to your latency.
What ports does Enshrouded use?
Enshrouded dedicated servers use port 15636 (TCP/UDP) for the main game connection and port 15637 (UDP) for the Steam server browser query port. Both need to be open in your firewall and router port forwarding rules if you're self-hosting. For P2P sessions, Steam handles NAT traversal automatically using Steam networking.
