Does PingAim work with Elden Ring?
Yes. PingAim uses a WFP kernel driver to route eldenring.exe through your chosen network interface. This is fully compatible with EasyAntiCheat — WFP operates at the Windows network stack level and does not modify game memory or files. You can switch Elden Ring to 5G tethering, Ethernet, or any available connection with one click.
Why is Elden Ring multiplayer so laggy?
Elden Ring uses P2P networking — one player hosts the session and all guests connect directly to that player's machine. If the host has a poor connection or is geographically far from you, everyone in the session experiences lag. Unlike dedicated-server games, there is no central server to equalize the connection. Using a second connection with better routing to the host (via PingAim or a VPN) can help, but the host's own upload quality is outside your control.
Does Elden Ring have dedicated servers?
No. Elden Ring uses peer-to-peer multiplayer for actual gameplay. Bandai Namco runs matchmaking servers that connect players together, but once a co-op or invasion session starts, all traffic flows directly between the players (host-to-guests). The matchmaking servers only handle session brokering and authentication, not the game simulation.
How do I fix Elden Ring co-op connection errors?
Most co-op errors are NAT-related or firewall-blocking P2P traffic. Try: enable UPnP on your router, or manually forward UDP ports 9305 and 49152–65535. Whitelist eldenring.exe and start_protected_game.exe in your firewall. If you have strict NAT, P2P connections will fail or be heavily relayed. A second connection via USB tethering often bypasses ISP-level NAT restrictions.
Does Elden Ring have a ping filter or region lock?
Elden Ring has a Cross-Region Play setting (System → Network), but on PC it only separates Japan from the rest of the world — there is no finer regional control. There is no built-in ping filter. To see per-player ping, use the third-party SteamP2PInfo tool. Nightreign has slightly better server region selection added in later patches.
Will a VPN or network optimizer get me banned in Elden Ring?
No bans have been reported for using VPNs or network routing tools in Elden Ring. EasyAntiCheat flags cheats that modify game memory or inject code — network-level routing tools like PingAim or VPNs operate below that layer. FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have not issued any policy against connection optimizers.
