Brawlhalla FAQ — Ping, Servers, Network

Does PingAim work with Brawlhalla? Why does Brawlhalla feel laggy even at 80ms ping?

Does PingAim work with Brawlhalla?

Yes. PingAim uses a WFP (Windows Filtering Platform) kernel driver that routes Brawlhalla.exe network traffic through your optimal interface. This method operates entirely at the Windows network stack level — outside the game process — and is not detected or flagged by Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC).

Why does Brawlhalla feel laggy even at 80ms ping?

Brawlhalla applies artificial input delay once your one-way ping exceeds 47ms (roughly 94ms round-trip). At 80ms RTT ping you are above the threshold, so the game adds delay to every input. This feels like the game is 'sticky' or unresponsive. Reducing your ping below 94ms RTT removes this added delay entirely.

What is a good ping for Brawlhalla?

Below 94ms round-trip (47ms one-way) is the threshold for zero input delay — this is the target. Below 60ms RTT is excellent. 60–94ms is playable with no added delay. 95–150ms means input delay is being applied and combos feel sluggish. Above 150ms significantly impacts competitive play.

Does Brawlhalla use rollback netcode like other fighting games?

Brawlhalla uses a server-side rollback system, but it is different from the GGPO-style client-side rollback used in games like Street Fighter 6, Guilty Gear Strive, or Mortal Kombat. In Brawlhalla, the server performs rollback when inputs arrive late, and adds input delay when ping is high rather than predicting and correcting client-side. Both approaches are forms of rollback, but the experience and ping sensitivity differ — Brawlhalla's system makes ping thresholds more impactful.

Can I get banned for using a network optimizer or VPN in Brawlhalla?

There are no documented bans from Easy Anti-Cheat for the use of network-level routing tools that operate outside the Brawlhalla.exe process. EAC's detection focus is on injection into the game process, memory tampering, and known cheat signatures — not on signed network drivers in the Windows Filtering Platform stack. PingAim runs in WFP-driver mode (no injection into Brawlhalla.exe). Note that VPN use specifically for ban-evasion or geo-restriction bypass remains against Ubisoft's terms; the safe use case is per-app routing on adapters you legitimately have access to (your phone, your second ISP, your second WiFi).

Why is my ping high on the Europe server if I'm in Europe?

The Europe server is located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Your ISP may route your traffic through distant exchange points before reaching Amsterdam. Running 'ping pingtest-ams.brawlhalla.com' and 'tracert pingtest-ams.brawlhalla.com' in Command Prompt shows exactly how many hops the path takes and where the time accumulates. Note that since Patch 6.11, Brawlhalla also runs Network Next on Windows by default, which already evaluates and may steer your traffic through a private relay if it finds a better path — so some 'why is my ISP route bad' problems are already mitigated by the publisher's own infrastructure. If your second adapter (phone 5G, second ISP) happens to peer differently, PingAim lets you pin Brawlhalla.exe to that interface.

PingAim detects Brawlhalla automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies Brawlhalla by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.
