Does PingAim work with Assetto Corsa?
Yes. PingAim auto-detects acs.exe (the actual game process, not AssettoCorsa.exe which is just the launcher) and routes its traffic through your optimal network interface using a WFP kernel driver. AC has no anti-cheat of any kind, so there is no risk of a ban. Because AC connects directly to community server IPs with no relay, PingAim optimises the full end-to-end path.
Why do cars jump and teleport in AC multiplayer even with low ping?
AC is unusually sensitive to packet loss. The server sends position updates at roughly 15 Hz (one update every 67ms). When a packet is lost, the client predicts position for two update intervals before the next packet corrects it — producing a visible snap even if your average ping is low. A 30ms connection with 2% packet loss will show more jumping than a 100ms connection with 0% loss. Jitter (ping variation) has a similar effect. Ethernet over WiFi and closing background uploads both help significantly.
What executable should PingAim route — acs.exe or AssettoCorsa.exe?
Route acs.exe. That is the actual game simulator process that handles all network traffic. AssettoCorsa.exe is the launcher UI that exits once the game loads. Content Manager (the popular third-party launcher) also launches acs.exe as the game process.
What ports does Assetto Corsa use?
The main game traffic uses UDP port 9600 and TCP port 9600. Port 8081 (TCP) is the HTTP lobby registration port — it is used by the server to register with the Kunos lobby service so it appears in the server browser, and by external tools like acServerManager. If you host your own server, forward UDP 9600, TCP 9600, and TCP 8081.
Can I use a VPN or network optimiser with AC?
Yes. AC has no anti-cheat and no system to detect or ban network routing tools. WTFast officially supports Assetto Corsa. PingAim works via the Windows WFP driver and does not modify the game client in any way — zero ban risk.
What is Content Manager and does PingAim work with it?
Content Manager (by x4fab) is a free third-party launcher for AC that replaces the default launcher with a better server browser, mod manager, and race setup interface. It launches acs.exe as the game process — PingAim routes acs.exe regardless of whether you launch from Content Manager or the official launcher.
My ping in the server browser is fine but I still see car jumping. What is wrong?
Server browser ping is a single ICMP echo — it does not measure packet loss during continuous game traffic. The actual game uses a stream of UDP packets at 15 Hz; any loss in that stream causes jumping even if the ping value looks normal. Tools like WinMTR or PingPlotter can measure packet loss on the path to a server IP, revealing loss that ping alone does not show.
Why is the same server showing different ping on different days?
ISP routing is not static. Your packets may travel different paths to the same server IP on different days, changing latency. This is common with community-hosted servers where the datacenter's upstream peering varies. If a server that usually shows 40ms suddenly shows 90ms, your ISP made a routing change — this is exactly the situation where having a second connection (phone tether) lets PingAim pick the path that still routes cleanly.
